Fields

The City Parks Department and GHSC continue to be mindful and vigilant in regards to the irrigation of our fields. GHSC contracts with an irrigation specialist to monitor the irrigation on all of our soccer fields from May through November. The monitoring includes sprinkler repairs when needed and to make sure that the irrigation clocks are working so that our fields do get the appropriate amount of water and are playable. The GHSC also contracts for the mowing, field lining, rodent abatement and off season field enhancements, including aerations, seeding, fertilizing and weed abatement.

School District Facilities are more challenging, due to long term issues regarding cost, upkeep and maintenance. GHSC has offered resources in the past, but the school district with their union requirements, have been unwilling to let us use outside contractors to take care of the fields. As such, GHSC is not utilizing school fields for the 2023 season.

FIELD POLICIES

For all field locations, players, parents and coaches must be respectful of the immediate neighbors. Please make sure that all trash is picked up after each game and practice. Our playing permits may be placed in jeopardy if there are recurring problems such as speeding through the neighborhoods, blocking driveways, running over grass piles, using the fences, or bushes, as restrooms, etc. Also, please do not allow players to climb on goal posts.

RAINY DAY POLICY

During rainy weather, please check the City of Sacramento Field Status Line at 916-808-2336. The phone lines are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can also go to the Sacramento Parks and Recreation Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SacParks (Park Status should be in the middle under “Posts”).

If the status line or the website states that the fields are closed, all practices and/or GHSC home games are to be cancelled. This applies to all park fields. Failure to abide by the status line can result in the loss of playing permits.

For away games outside of the City of Sacramento purview, head coaches are responsible for contacting the opposing coach or club to see if the game is cancelled or not.

CITY PARK FIELD USAGE POLICY

If there are any issues during your practices and games at any City Park (e.g. sprinklers on), please call the City operator at 311 or 916-264-5011.  If there is an emergency at any of the fields, call 911 for Sac PD. For less emergent situations, such as another organization using fields during GHSC permitted times, call the City Operator at 311 or 916-264-5011 to have a City Parks Maintenance Worker dispatched. The non-emergency police number is 916-264-5471.

Renfree Park Soccer Fields – The Renfree Park Soccer fields will be used by 8-10 teams every day during the week except Fridays. There will be significant traffic. Please plan accordingly, and do not park in driveways or block driveways when dropping players off. Parking in the cul-de sacs will be limited. Please be respectful of our neighbors.

PORTABLE RESTROOMs

GHSC is will be placing portable restrooms at several of our fields.

IMPORTANT

During the season, coaches and parents can help GHSC by taking the time before every practice to walk the field and note unsafe areas such as major divots and holes, and contact the Field Administrator to report unsafe conditions. Every effort will be made to respond in a timely fashion.
