Competitive Select
Overview
The Competitive Select Program is a program for our older female players (U17) and older male players (U15) who missed the age cutoff for our Competitive Program, and have the talent and desire to improve their soccer skills and compete at a higher level. Competitive-Select teams will be competing in the NorCal Premier Soccer Competitive Fall League alongside other competitive clubs in the region. While the typical season runs from June-December, players in our Competitive Select Program will have the opportunity for more games, tournament play and multiple seasons if desired. Additional training is offered in the Spring, with the option of playing in the NorCal Premier Spring League or in NorCal Premier League Playdates. Tournament/Playdate participation will be determined by the coaches and the team.

What to Expect

A professional, licensed and experienced Technical Director and Directors of Coaching with a proven track records of successful program development.
Quality assurance: a program wide curriculum and on-field plan/structure.
US Soccer licensed volunteer head coaches who are supported and mentored by our more experienced Program Directors.

Cost
$550 per player; covers the Fall Season plus one tournament. $250 volunteer fee per family; waived if volunteer hours are completed by March. See below for details. Additional fees include a uniform package (approximately $200) and any additional tournament fees.
Differences between Competitive and Competitive Select Programs?
Age: our Competitive Select Program is for players born in 2009 and later.
Coaching: Competitive Select coaches are volunteers who have at minimum a Grassroots Level coaching license. Competitive coaches are compensated coaches who have more experience and either have or are expected to pursue higher level licensing.
Playing Season and Level of Play: while both programs participate in the NorCal Premier League, our Competitive Select teams will play in the Fall, and have the option of tournaments and multiple seasons if desired by the coaches and team. The expectation is that teams will be seeded in the Bronze Division. Competitive Program participants are expected to participate in year round play and at least 4 tournaments/playdates, as well as State Cup. The expectation is that teams will be seeded in the Silver Division or higher.
Volunteer Policy
GHSC is a volunteer driven organization. In order to keep the quality of our Club’s services high and costs low, all GHSC Competitive and Competitive Select Program Families are expected to volunteer at least 5 hours at a GHSC approved volunteer activity or event. Families that receive Financial Assistance are expected to volunteer 10 hours. Families who do not fulfill their volunteer hours by March 1 will be required to pay a $250 volunteer fee.
