Competitive Select
Overview
GHSC is excited to announce that in 2024 we will be expanding our Competitive Program to include Competitive Select. Competitive Select teams will be competing in the NorCal Premier Soccer Competitive Playing League alongside other competitive clubs in the region. This is a program for our older (birth year 2013 and older) players with the talent and desire to improve their soccer skills. While the typical season runs from June-December, players in our Competitive Select Program will have the opportunity for more games, tournament play and multiple seasons if desired. Additional training is offered in the Spring, with the option of playing in the NorCal Premier Spring League. Tournament play will be determined by team participation and interest.

What to Expect
A professional Director of Coaching with a proven track record of successful program development.
Quality assurance: a program wide curriculum and on-field plan/structure all created and supervised by the Director of Coaching.
Licensed volunteer head coaches selected and working directly with the Director of Coaching.
Strong foundational base and infrastructure: an established brand and large grassroots player pool. Deep community roots – 48 years of generational involvement, with parents who played in GHSC now coaching their own kids in GHSC.
Highly tenured and experienced board leadership.
Team Formation
Players are selected for teams via tryouts by the coaches (in conjunction with the DOC) based on talent and potential. Tryouts for U12-U14 teams will be held May 13-16 and for U15-U19 teams from May 20-23. More information coming soon!
Cost
$425 per player registration fee for the year. Additional fees include a uniform package (approximately $150) and any tournament fees.
Differences between Competitive and Competitive Select Programs?
Age: our Competitive Select Program is for players born in 2013 and later.
Coaching: Competitive Select coaches are volunteers who have at minimum a Grassroots Level coaching license. Competitive coaches are compensated coaches who have more experience and higher level licensing (at minimum a National D License with the expectation of achieving higher levels).
Playing Season and Level of Play: while both programs participate in the NorCal Premier League, our Competitive Program participants are expected to participate in year round play and a minimum number of tournaments, with the expectation to be seeded in the Silver Division or higher. Competitive Select participants will play in the Fall and have the option of multiple seasons of play and tournaments as desired, with the expectation to be seeded in the Bronze Division or higher.
