U7/8 Program

We are thrilled to announce the beginning of a new, fun, enriching U7/8 Program! Beginning in
2025, our U7/8 Program will be in-house. This will allow us to provide coaches and players with
professional level support in all facets of the game. Our mission is to nurture a love for the
game, improve skills and provide opportunities for personal development. This program is
holistic in that we believe while kids are building their soccer skills and experiencing the joy of
the sport, they are also gaining confidence, making new friends and learning lifelong values
such as teamwork, respect and resilience. We will provide a high-quality, well-organized soccer
experience in an enjoyable, inclusive environment. We can’t wait to get started and watch our
players grow and thrive on and off the field!

Format

Teams will still be formed, and we will continue to rely on our wonderful volunteer
coaches. We will also continue the longstanding GHSC tradition of honoring (to the best of our
ability) friend and coach requests.
The season will begin and end early to take full advantage of daylight and maximize play time.
Exact dates are TBA, but plan on play beginning near August 1 and ending by November 1.
Our professional staff will create a standardized curriculum, designed to maximize skill
development, enjoyment and player/coach confidence. Our professional staff will be at the field to provide direction and support to coaches/teams for the first practice session of the week and the coaches will run the second practice of the week on their own, following the guidance and training plans from our professional staff.
Games will be on Saturdays and will begin the third week of the season. We’ll work together to
make game days fun with equitable competition. We are dedicated to providing a game day
environment that is enjoyable for everyone.
Our professional staff will provide pre-season orientation and training, as well as season-long
mentoring and availability for questions.

Our Staff

Ruben has over 20 years of coaching experience at all levels; from recreational to competitive to semi-professional. Ruben’s teams have consistently achieved success at the highest level and he has helped prepare and place many players on to the collegiate and professional ranks. Ruben carries a USSF National C License and a USSF National Youth License, which requires in-depth knowledge of child development as well as technical soccer acumen. He has coached in GHSC for the last several years and will be the coach for the upcoming 2017G Competitive Team.

Ruben played at all levels, including collegiately in Division 1 and professionally in the United States Independent Soccer League.

Along with his wealth of experience and expertise, Ruben brings tremendous enthusiasm and joy for the game. He is a truly gifted coach and will provide every player and coach with the opportunity to improve while having fun.

Daniel has been coaching in GHSC for 4 years. He was recruited to coach for his son’s U8 Recreational Team and was bitten by the coaching bug! He has spent the ensuing years pursuing advanced licenses and now holds a USSF National C License. He currently coaches two teams in our boys competitive program (including the 2016B Team 1 State Cup Silver Division Champs!) and is one of the most popular coaches in our Tots Program.

Daniel played competitively throughout his youth until college, played in the Olympic Development Program as a youth player, and earned a partial college scholarship to a Division 1 college, where unfortunately his playing career was derailed by injuries.

Daniel is known for his unbridled enthusiasm and love of coaching. He meticulously prepares for every training session and game. Daniel’s quest for knowledge is ongoing and he dedicates himself to improving every player’s skill set. His joy is contagious, and your player will have fun while gaining skill and confidence on and off of the field.
